Character Profile - Brad

We chose the names for our characters based on other films and the horror films paradigms. For example in Scream the main girl character is called Sydney, which is a both a male and female name. So we decided that we should also chose a name that is both male and female and we chose Ashley. We also chose this name based on the final girl theory and towards the end of the film, the main girl character takes on a male role of being the hero and takes the audience by surprise, therefore resulting in the final girl theory. We chose the name Derek as we wanted an unusual name for our killer character, we did start off with Dexter, but we came across a few more names that sounded normal but still unusual. We chose the name Jay as we wanted an Asian character that had a cool hip name that would relate to the audience and also sound like an Asian name or a shortened name for an Asian male character. We chose the name Brad as again we wanted a cool hip name that sounds like a nice guy however during the trailer he reveals himself to be a coward. We chose the name Sasha as a short and snappy name which has sexual connotations around the name and also sounds like a typical African American name.
